Love God's Way: Hate or Satire?
Drop by Love God's Way ministries, watch the video for "The Bible Says," and let me know what you think. The viciously anti-gay tune includes the lines "heaven has no back door" and "Jesus is the only man for me"; the chorus begins, "God hates a fag." Love God's Way founder Donnie Davies claims to have been down the "long, lonely, desolate road" of homosexuality. Presumably, he is no longer gay.
Though his song lyrics suggest otherwise, Davies says in his description of his CHOPS (Changing Homosexuals into Ordinary People) program that "God Loves You even if he hates your Homosexuality." The Love God's Way website also lists "gay bands" ("One of the most dangerous ways homosexuality invades family life is through popular music"), including many bands I love (such as Nirvana, The Velvet Underground, Depeche Mode, and Bright Eyes) and unlikely gay artists Jay-Z and Wu Tang's Ghostface Killah. Elton John is listed twice.

Fred Phelps in 4/4 time? No thanks! But thanks for the heads up about this. It's really just sad, isn't it. I have to keep telling myself over and over that Jesus died for these people too.
Maybe I missed something. If it's satire, I shouldn't have been so indignant... I hope's it's satirical.
I think it's satire. Check out the Lovegodsway.org website and watch his message about getting made fun of for being fat. He talks about it being a genetic thyroid disorder and that he was "born that way". There are far too many innuendos and double entendre jokes in there for it to be serious.
If this is a joke tis a sick one. How does this jackass know that God hates anyone.. gotta direct line?? More concerned on how many persons will take it seriously.. we already have too many hate crimes. And what does the S stand for in CHOPS? They make medication for thyroid conditions..
there's also the fact that "evening standard" is a british tabloid. interesting, no?
If this is real it's no surprise, Ignorance is out there...
But if this is a joke, the direction I'm leaning in, It's genius, There's no better insult to the ignorant than blatently imitating their ways. Sarcasm always yeilds a wake up call. They should keep this up. Vonnegut would be proud.
I hope that Donnie is aware that Jesus said a lot more about passing judgement than he ever said about homosexuals (presumably).
It's really terrible that people like this (and Jerry Fallwell and Fred Phelps, etc.) make Jesus look like an asshole.

it is satire. it's hard to tell, because it's just barely past the threshold into satire. he didn't overdo it enough to make it obvious, and that could add or subtract from it's humor, depending on the case.

This is not satire. On dude's website he explains that he used to be gay, but "shook the habit" so to speak by going to church. Apparently he's still attached to gay fashion tho cuz he has no problem rockin' that ridiculous mustache and pink shirt in his video. If it's satire, it's fuckin genius. If it's not (which I'm almost positive it isn't), it's still hilarious and yet sad that someone could get the bible's message so wrong. I can see him now, "If I'll go to hell for being a fag, then I'll go to heaven for spreading hate for fags. Yeah, that'll work!" lmao

Not sure when this country got to a point it just accepts everything. It isn't hateing gay people, however, it is in fact the act(sin). God abhors the gay act not the person. We have all sined. But for goodness sakes someone please don't let me think it is ok. Hell is the same gay or liar or whatever the case. The offense taken by people saying it is wrong, is because no one wants to be told nooooooo. Well hit it with a flame of glory if you like but I am not going to lie to you and say ok "it is fine". It isn't. Everyone who is gay even knows it is. Why else would they always feel condemned? I always feel condemned when I sin. That is how it is. No one is perfect but don't say to God you have to accept this. Guess what, he doesn't and he doesn't have to. He made us and can accept what he chooses. It is for our own good, he loves you enough to say no. Yes sometimes it isn't what we want, but guess what it isn't about us. He also wants us to love others. We are human and don't handle everything perfectly. We are all growing in Christ. Just don't think for a minute that you can compare handleing matters to being gay. No where near the same. That is a maturity matter not anything else. Yes God will deal with him.

He lists Cyndi Lauper as a Safe Band... Cyndi Lauper does more for gay rights than any artist Ive heard of she's some kind of Ambassador for LGBT community I bet she would love that website!!

It is satire. Look on the home page at the products in the online shop that isn't up and running yet...There's Magig Sex Magnum Man, Gay Away Chill Gum, Fat Fag Faith Food, and some comic package with an male angel putting a sleeper hold on the devil (reminds me of the Chapelle show spoof of MTv's Real World).
