Tuesday Evening Links
- Wonkette's Unique Take on a Possible Fred Thompson Presidential Run (Wonkette): Wonkette looks at the two Republican Thompsons who will likely be running for the nation's top office. After seeing Tommy Thompson on CNN today, I don't think that lumping the Thompsons together is fair to Fred, who actually has a shot at winning the nomination.
- Why Isn't CBS Letting Gus Johnson Call Late-Round NCAA Tournament Games? Why Didn't Xavier Foul? (ESPN Page 2): Another excellent column from Bill Simmons.
- No, Cookie Monster Isn't Being Replaced by "Veggie Monster" (Snopes): This rumor's been going around, and those of you who aren't up on Sesame Street should know the truth. Cookie Monster is eating more healthy foods these days, but he isn't giving up cookies entirely, nor is he changing his name. (Also, Sinbad didn't die of a heart attack. That's an urban legend too.)
- Rep. David Scott (D-GA) Gets Biblical, Gives Memorable Speech on House Floor (Think Progress): Rep. Scott speaks in opposition to an amendment to the "Gulf Coast Hurricane Housing Recovery Act of 2007" that would "require victims of Hurricane Katrina to perform 20 hours/week of approved 'work activities' to receive financial aid for housing."
