You Gotta Feel Bad for Sylvia Fowles
LSU star Sylvia Fowles led her team to the Final Four in each of the four years of her college career, a span that included a coaching scandal the likes of which would have set many programs back five years. Yet Fowles and her fellow seniors never once won a national title nor even played in a championship game. Last night, even though Fowles went for 24 points, 20 rebounds, and 5 blocks, the Tigers fell short once again, losing to Tennessee on an Alexis Hornbuckle buzzer-beater. All told, LSU has appeared in five consecutive women's Final Fours under four different coaches and has lost in the semi-final game all five times.
Though I feel bad for Fowles and LSU, tomorrow night's battle of the Candaces should be interesting. The way Stanford has been playing, I don't know if their beatable. Then again, I'd thought the same about LSU.
